Vikings Draft CB Josh Robinson

The Vikings drafted Central Florida cornerback Josh Robinson early in the third round Friday night. Robinson is 5-10, 199 pounds and turned in the fastest time at the Combine (4.33  in the 40 yard dash). Three-year starter. Named 2nd Team All-Conference USA in 2009 and 1st Team in 2010 and 2011.  In 38-career games for the Knights, he amassed 176 tackles and ranked second in UCF history with 36 pass break-ups and fifth with 10 interceptions.

NFL Player Comparison: Lardarius Webb.

"Robinson has displayed superb zone skills. Aside from length, where he is only average, he has all the traits sought after in a zone corner... Robinson struggled at times playing man coverage."

"Alert in zone. Very good ball production. Drives on throws and times pass breakups... Competed well against former Georgia star WR A.J. Green as a sophomore... Average length. Does not always play to timed speed. Needs to get functionally stronger.”

"Very good hand-eye coordination and timing to knock passes away as the receiver attempts to secure the catch. Highly competitive...needs to do a better job of turning interception opportunities into actual interceptions, recording 10 despite breaking up 36 passes over his career."

"Robinson is a perfect fit in Minnesota's cover-two base defense, and the Vikings have to be relieved he was still on the board. As he proved at the combine, Robinson is an elite athlete with explosive closing speed and great instincts off the ball. He is also a willing tackler, a must for the Vikings' defense."

  1. What's the deal with the dropoff in coverage here? Bummed that they B.S.'d you into thinking Claiborne was the pick so now you are ignoring the rest of the draft?
